Flag of Saint-Pierre & Michelon (French Islands near Canada).

Dear Friends! This nice FDC I recieved from my pen-frirnd Stephane from France.
In his letter he wrote to me:
" Today I send you a special one. In my region there is the first day of a stamp of SPM. In the city of Ouistreham there is a temporarypostal office of the postal administartion of SPM from 16 up to 19.01.08. Exeptionary during this days we can use this stamp of SPM and send covers (normaly SPM stamps have to use only on this islands). Why a temporary postal office in Ouistreham (Normandy)? Because the man on the stamp is from SPM and had participated in D-Day 1944 and landed in Ouistreham".
The first issue of the new 2008 year from St. Pierre and Miquelon honors Rene Autin, a native of St. Pierre who was part of the Kieffer Commandos, 177 Free French, attached to the British commandos, who landed on Sword Beach in Normandy on D-Day in 1944.
